Match preview

Irish boxer Jason Quigley takes on the biggest bout of his career when he challenges Demetrius Andrade for the WBO middleweight title in New Hampshire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Quigley earned himself a shot at the belt with a narrow decision victory over Shane Mosley Jr in May, bouncing back from his 2019 loss to Tureano Johnson.

Unbeaten champion Andrade, meanwhile, kept British fighter Liam Williams at arm's length throughout their bout in April, earning a unanimous points victory.

Andrade’s awkward southpaw style makes him a tough customer and his class should tell as the fight progresses.

Quigley will look to pressure the American and while he is a good counter puncher, he hasn’t shown enough in previous fights to suggest that he is ready to take the step up to the elite level.

That said, he could hang tough. Five of Andrade’s last seven wins have gone to the judges and ten of his last 12 fights have gone further than the eighth round.

Quigley showed improved stamina in his victory over Mosley and he should be able to stay in the mix until the latter stages, albeit he may lack the class to triumph.
