Bjerregaard should eclipse threeball rivals in Hamburg
North Course may not suit Miyazato and Lorenzo-Vera
Sky Sports Golf, 10am Thursday
Lucas Bjerregaard will be thrilled to be back on a parkland layout this week, particularly one with five par-fives, and the power-packed Dane can be fancied to win his European Open first-round threeball in Hamburg.
Bjerregaard has failed to sparkle on links terrain in his most recent outings, but the set-up at the North Course is much more his cup of tea, and the Portugal Masters champion can outscore Yusaku Miyazato and Mike Lorenzo-Vera in the 11.40am contest.
Bjerregaard, four times a top-six finisher on the European Tour in the last three months, was fifth in the BMW International Open a month ago. That event is played on another straightforward parkland layout in Germany, so is a strong formline.
Miyazato withdrew from the Scottish Open after a first-round 72, then closed with a 77 for 47th place at Carnoustie. Little should be expected from the Japanese raider on his tournament debut, while Lorenzo-Vera has missed three of his last four cuts and is also a North Course virgin.
