Bank on Besiktas to continue home run

Besiktas could be celebrating again
1 of 1

Turkish Super Lig
6pm Monday

Besiktas are pretty much invincible on their own turf in the Turkish Super Lig so it would be an even bigger surprise than the odds suggest should Konyaspor manage to cause an upset at the Vodafone Arena.

No visiting side have managed to win at the stadium since it was redeveloped in April 2016 and it was pretty much the same even when Besiktas played at the Ataturk Stadium as they waited to move into their new arena.

Besiktas are unbeaten in home league games since December 2015 and the champions are also looking to make their mark in Europe judging by Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League away win at Porto.

Pepe arrived in the summer to add experience to a side who have plenty of quality in the final third through Cenk Tosun, Anderson Talisca, Ryan Babel and Ricardo Quaresma.

Besiktas are priced up as if they are home bankers – and rightly so – but there could be some mileage in backing Konyaspor to at least be competitive even if the Turkish Cup winners carry less of a threat this term following the summer sale of top scorer Riad Bajic to Udinese.

Konyaspor lost 1-0 at Marseille in the Europa League on Thursday and nine of their ten away league defeats since the start of 2016 finished with under 3.5 goals.
