Nick Kyrgios has his own way of doing things and can be a nightmare for punters but he is expected to be on a going day when he meets home hope Denis Kudla in the opening round of the ATP Cincinnati.
The Aussie ace was narrowly beaten by Stan Wawrinka in Toronto last week, despite racing to the opening set 6-1, but should be motivated for his return to Cincinnati, where he finished runner-up to world number five Grigor Dimitrov 12 months ago.
His run to the final last season came on the back of an early elimination in Canada so it should come as no surprise to see a more effective Kyrgios turn up in the States.
The 15th seed won their only previous meeting in straight sets in Kudla's homeland two years ago and Kyrgios should blow the American away again providing he is on his best behaviour.
In the women’s action, lively Latvian Anastasija Sevastova to beat Camila Giorgi looks the best first-round wager.
Sevastova silenced the classy Julia Goerges in Montreal last week before being stopped by eventual runner-up Sloane Stephens and appears in better shape than her Italian opponent.
Giorgi has been granted a lucky loser spot following a deciding set defeat to Viktoria Kuzmova in her final Cincinnati qualifier and she may need a few weeks before rediscovering top form.
