Armour can shine in second round in Vegas
Last week's winner is full of confidence
Sky Sports Golf, 8.30pm Friday
Ryan Armour is buzzing after claiming his first US Tour victory at last week's Sandersons Farms Championship and he looks set to build on an encouraging first round at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Armour carded an opening 68 to equal his best round in eight attempts at TPC Summerlin and he defied some indifferent course form - he is 66-MC-MC at the Las Vegas track - to give himself a great chance of being a factor in the weekend shake-up.
He looks a good-value bet to see off Bryson DeChambeau and Billy Horschel in his second-round threeball (7.25pm GMT).
His opponents are one-shot ahead ahead of Armour and the quirky DeChambeau missed just one green in regulation on the way to his 67.
That's solid form for the winner of July's John Deere Classic, but he too has little course form to get excited about, with last year's 36th his only Summerlin effort.
He finished 33rd at the Tour Championship and got the new season off to a decent start by finishing 17th at the Safeway Open, but Armour's confidence will be sky high after last week's five-shot success.
Horschel makes limited appeal in the threeball despite his 67.
That round came as a bit of a surprise as he made little impression at the FedEx Cup Playoffs as the AT&T Byron Nelson Champion struggled at the end of the summer.
A fourth at the FedEx St Jude Classic has been by far his best result since his success in Texas and it is difficult to get enthused about his chances of staying the course.
