Anderson can ease past struggling Benito
Van de Pas may not put up much of a fight
ITV4, 7pm Saturday
Michael van Gerwen begins his bid for a fourth Masters title with what should be a romp against Kim Huybrechts – but a Gary Anderson breeze earlier in the night might make more appeal to punters.
The handicapper has Van Gerwen giving 5.5 legs in the race to ten which he can certainly deal with given he has beaten the Belgian in their last 11 meetings and you just know, judged on his record in Milton Keynes, that few players are keener after their New Year break than Mighty Mike.
But Anderson giving 4.5 legs against Benito van de Pas is a better bet.
Anderson can cover that because Van de Pas looks woefully out of sorts. He’s lost all four previous clashes with the Scot, including in this competition 12 months ago, a match the twice world champion won 10-3.
Van de Pas also suffered poor first-round exits in his last two events – the Players and the World Championship – and looks like a player on the way down.
G Anderson -4.5
