He explained that he has ridden and won on the gelding previously when riding in a similar manner and, in his experience, it needs to be kept on the bridle for as long as possible. He added that, in his opinion, due to the slow early pace the field was compacted, preventing him from obtaining a clear run until the final stages of the race, a fact which he reported to scales.
