Graeme Rodway's play of the day at Doncaster

Bust A Move
1.55 Doncaster

This 1m2f handicap is a cracking race for three-year-olds and the one to beat here is surely Bust A Move, who was improving rapidly on testing ground at the end of last season.

The Mick and David Easterby-trained gelding was slowly progressive in novice and maiden races and built on his handicap debut third on soft ground at York in October with a wide-margin victory on heavy going at Newmarket in early November. He recorded a good time that day.

Bust A Move powered to the front inside the final two furlongs and just went further and further clear. He appeared to relish the testing conditions and had put seven and a half lengths on the rest of the field at the finish. That resulted in a Racing Post Rating 12lb higher than his previous best.

That form is working out well, too. The fourth, New Chelsea, was an improved second at Kempton next time and the fifth, It’s Not Risky, won two all-weather handicaps in January.

Bust A Move is up 9lb and a furlong in trip, but he remains open to plenty of further progress and it seems fair to assume he will be ready to go after 141 days off. Connections will almost certainly have had an early-season campaign in mind given his preference for testing ground.
