Yourartisonfire lighting up Curragh in 'monster gamble'
Bookmakers are taking cover in the face of a "monster gamble" at the Curragh with Yourartisonfire slashed into a top-priced 9-2 from 25-1 for the apprentice handicap.
The seven-year-old, ridden by Sean Davis, is having his first start for trainer Michael O’Callaghan after moving from Lisa Williamson in the 22-runner 7f contest (5.05).
Betfair spokesman Barry Orr said: “It’s been our biggest mover of the day. It started off early and grew through the morning. We cut it from 16-1 into 9-1 but punters can’t get enough and we’ve had to keep cutting it in again, right into 9-2.
"The stakes are of an average sort, but there are a lot of them. It’s a monster gamble.
“It’s his first run for Michael O’Callaghan and that yard knows the time of day. It looks relatively well exposed, so it must have shown something at home to make it look well handicapped. And it doesn’t look like the kind of race that will take a lot of winning.”
