You're fired! BHA congratulates Apprentice's Brady instead of minister Bradley
When sending correspondence it is always a good idea if it goes to the right person.
Which is why the BHA was busy apologising on Monday after mistakenly congratulating Karren Brady, Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge and one third of the board of the BBC series The Apprentice, on her appointment as secretary of state for Northern Ireland.
No worries at all - I have posted it back to you! Just so you know you also dated it as Jan 2017 - might want to have a quiet word with your admin department!
The letter should have gone to Karen Bradley, who recently moved from the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to her new ministerial post.
But instead it was Brady who was left confused by the letter from BHA chairman Steve Harman thanking her for the role she played in helping complete the reform of the levy.
It said: "Your intervention has meant so much to thousands of jobs and to the rural economy and small businesses – your legacy will be visible for a very long time."
To add to the embarrassment, the correspondence was dated January 2017.
Such fundamental errors could earn a candidate on the hit TV show a dressing-down in the boardroom.
It is down to Lord Sugar to utter the words 'You're fired', so Brady used Twitter to expose the BHA gaffe to her 250,000 followers, saying: "I think this was meant for Karen Bradley!!!!! will pop it back in the post!"
Brady responded: "No worries at all – I have posted it back to you! Just so you know you also dated it as Jan 2017 – might want to have a quiet word with your admin department!"
