Richard Hughes was evidently speaking for plenty of others when using his Racing Post column on Saturday to bemoan the standards of behaviour, much of it worsened by the effects of alcohol, at some British race meetings.

Hughes wrote of his experience at Lingfield last Saturday when he and wife Lizzie witnessed two fights, one of them particularly nasty.
