A syndicate of owners who were due to have two runners in the Yarmouth handicap which was abandoned last Tuesday have joined Newmarket trainer Mark Tompkins in condemning Arena Racing Company for its failure to compensate those left out of pocket.

The race, a middle-distance handicap for horses rated 61-75, was called off owing to there being insufficient medical cover in place following the senior racecourse doctor's decision to accompany to hospital jockey David Parkes, who had a suspected broken ankle.

Tompkins criticised the response of Arc in a letter to the Racing Post, and he has been joined by Sue Cawthorn, founder of Prima Racing, who were set to be represented by Tyrsal and Cornelious, both trained by Cliff Lines.
