Witnesses called for after man in Lambourn is attacked by person in riding gear

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted by an individual in riding clothing during an attempted robbery in Lambourn last month.

The 28-year-old was attacked while withdrawing money from an ATM on Lambourn High Street at around 1pm on January 22.

The assailant pushed the victim and punched him twice in the face, splitting his lip, as he tried to steal the money.

The offender was described as being white, 5ft 7in, with brown wavy hair, stubble on his face, and of a slim build. At the time of the offence he was wearing dark riding breeches, a black riding hat of black silk with a bobble, goggles on the hat and a black jacket. He spoke with an Irish accent.

Investigating officer PC Peter Brooks, based at Newbury police station, said: "I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or who recognises the description of this offender to come forward.

"If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101 or make a report online quoting reference 43200024330.

"Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
