Former jockey Alan Rutter has struck up a good association with the Winter Derby winner, who unusually finished in front in his latest workout on the Al Bahathri Polytrack on Saturday morning. The son of Tapit can clinch the all-weather trainers' title for Gosden if he can land the £200,000 Easter Classic at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Silvestre de Sousa was a rare sight among the Stoute ranks but not as rare as his chauffeur, former trainer Chris Dwyer, who used to work for the Freemason Lodge handler. De Sousa was on hand to partner this 1,000 Guineas entry, who was formerly with Ralph Beckett, for his retainer King Power Racing. The daughter of Shamardal was a winner on her debut at Newmarket last backend and moved sweetly with a decent three-year-old colt over seven furlongs on the Al Bahathri.
