Windsor next for Turner after comeback rider takes Ascot third
Television remains the number-one priority for Hayley Turner but the highest-profile female jockey in British racing history will continue to don silks, with her next appearance in the saddle set to come at Windsor on Monday.
The multiple Group 1-winning rider was interviewed by ITV at Ascot on Saturday, but she was there as a player not pundit and went on to finish third aboard the Michael Bell-trained Fire Brigade.
Turner, who retired from the weighing room at the end of the 2015 season, has ridden two winners this year, one of them coming in the new Silk Series for female riders, to which she will return when partnering the Paul Cole-trained Mr Pocket at Windsor.
"I'm enjoying working for ITV, and that's my priority, but they're happy for me to ride as it gives viewers a bit of an extra insight," said Turner.
"I'm riding out for Michael Bell and James Fanshawe and really enjoy it. I enjoy keeping fit as well.
"If someone asks me to ride one of their horses it's quite hard to turn down the opportunity, so as long as the opportunities keep coming I'll keep taking them.
"Paul Cole asked me to ride one for him on Monday, so why not take the ride?"
Turner, who will be on screen for ITV at Goodwood on Friday and Saturday, added: "The way I'm doing it now is very different to what I used to do.
"I've just done 8st there, but because I'm not riding every day I've got more time to prepare in the way an athlete would."
