Godolphin enjoyed big-race success with Pinatubo at Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday and more good news could be on the horizon with rider William Buick close to a return to action.

Stable jockey to Charlie Appleby, Buick has been out of action since May with post head-injury syndrome sustained after falling from his mount on the way to the start at Ascot.

He has recently returned to the saddle on the gallops and Appleby on Tuesday gave the strongest indication yet that the jockey's comeback is imminent.

"He's been riding out this week but just has a couple more tests to take this week and hopefully we'll be on track," said the trainer at Goodwood.

"He's done all his gym tests and everything is great. He just needs his final tick and we're good to go. We're hopeful of a return soon."

James Doyle has been the main beneficiary of Buick's enforced absence, riding Blue Point to double Group 1 success at Royal Ascot and he was on board Pinatubo as the juvenile enhanced his Classic claims with a dominant win in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes.
