Will Biddick has broken the British record for point-to-point winners after riding his 415th career winner at Eggesford in Devon.

The Cornishman, 32, entered the day one victory shy of the all-time record of 414, held since 2011 by Richard Burton, but matched that figure in the second race on the card, after victory courtesy of the six-year-old Crown Of Thorns.

The record-breaking ride came six races later, when the Ed Walker-trained Kernel Victor stayed on well after the second-last to triumph in the concluding 3m confined contest.

Further honours may follow for Biddick, who is very much in the running for this season's point-to-point jockey's championship, remaining locked in a tight battle with fellow amateurs Alex Edwards and Jack Andrews.

The record success comes on the back of Gina Andrews breaking the record for the most point-to-point winners by a lady jockey in a single season only last week.
