Wild Hacked no match for Full Drago in Botti family tussle
Marco Botti was unable to repeat last year's win in the Gran Premio di Milano at San Siro on Sunday, but the Group 2 prize stayed in the family after it fell to Full Drago, trained by his brother Stefano.
The Newmarket trainer's hope Wild Hacked could finish only fifth of eight under Andrea Atzeni, six and three-quarter lengths behind the odds-on winner.
Botti said: "The ground was a bit too quick for him. They didn't go very fast early on and when the pace lifted he didn't really let himself down properly. The winner won well."
Full Drago, who made all to win by a length and a quarter from Way To Paris, was Stefano Botti's third success in the race in five runnings, the trainer having also scored with Biz The Nurse and Dylan Mouth, whom Marco saddled in the race a year ago.
Stefano Botti and Full Drago's rider Dario Vargiu had earlier combined to capture the other Pattern contest on the card, with Voice Of Love landing the Group 3 Premio del Giubileo.
