Scottish Grand National with huge trainers' title implications and the Classic scene heats up at Newbury

Monday
It is a relatively quiet start to the week after the packed Grand National festivities, and Redcar makes its return for the year with a seven-race Flat card.
There are two all-weather meetings from Wolverhampton and Kempton, in which 1,000 Guineas entry Trad Jazz runs in the 1m3f novice (4.53).
The jumps action comes from Kelso, but eyes will turn towards another Scottish track ahead of the weekend. The five-day confirmations for the Scottish Grand National (3.35) will be revealed, and expect Willie Mullins, who won it last season with Macdermott, to have a formidable team again after his dominance at Aintree.
You can also read a stable tour with George Boughey for the Flat season, which will be available to Racing Post+ members from 6pm.

Elsewhere the best racing comes on the international stage, as Deauville stages two Classic trials with the Prix Djebel (2.05) and Prix Imprudence (3.15).
The Djebel was won by subsequent Group 1 winner Lazzat last year and there is British interest in the Karl Burke-trained Arabie, who won the Prix Robert Papin last year, while Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Daylight runs in the Imprudence. At Keeneland, there is a crucial Kentucky Derby Trial with the Blue Grass Stakes (10.52).
Pontefract stages its first Flat meeting of the year, while there are also fixtures at Navan, Southwell and over jumps at Carlisle.
Wednesday
The Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes (4.05) is one of Nottingham's biggest races of the year and has been won by Trueshan. This year's runners could include Group-race regular Al Qareem.

There is Listed action at Leopardstown with the Heritage Stakes (3.48), while some classy fillies for the future could be on show in the opening 1m2f maiden (1.48). Tarnawa won the race in 2019.
There are also meetings from Catterick and Kempton, while Taunton runs a novice hurdle named after Champion Hurdle winner Golden Ace (2.55).
Thursday
Racing at Newton Abbot normally means the summer is just around the corner and the Devon track returns for 2025 with a six-race card.
There is also jumps action from Hereford and Limerick, as well as two all-weather cards from Lingfield and Newcastle, but keep your eyes peeled for the key weekend news just after 10am.
That is when the final field for Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National (3.35) will be revealed, as well as two key Classic trials at Newbury – the Fred Darling (2.10) and Greenham Stakes (2.45).
Friday
There is a bit of everything on offer for racing fans, with the two-day Scottish Grand National meeting kicking off at Ayr. Among those entered in the 2m4½f handicap chase (3.15) is Booster Bob, who won the Greatwood Gold Cup last month under a remarkable Sean Bowen ride.
Newbury's spring trials Stakes meeting also begins and the 1m2f novice contest (3.37) has unearthed smart horses before. Godolphin have four entries, including Kempton debut winner Masai Moon.
Sedgefield, Huntingdon and Fontwell are also in action in Britain, while the Irish cards come from Ballinrobe and Dundalk. There is also US Grade 1 racing with the Maker's Mark Mile (10.16) at Keeneland.
Saturday
Scotland's biggest raceday is here as Ayr hosts the Coral Scottish Grand National (3.35), which could have significant implications on the British jumps trainers' championship again.
Willie Mullins's victory a year ago put him on the path for the title and has another strong team lined up, with the Closutton trainer responsible for five of the top nine in the betting. They include Captain Cody and Chosen Witness.
Lucinda Russell leads the home challenge with Whistle Stop Tour in a race she won four years ago, while Kim Muir runner-up Johnnywho currently heads the betting.

The Coral Scottish Champion Hurdle (2.15) is among a host of valuable other prizes on the eight-race card. The Mullins-trained Kargese heads the betting.
On the Flat, there are key 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas trials at Newbury's fixture with the Fred Darling (2.10) and Greenham Stakes (2.45).
Elmalka was third behind Folgaria last year before going on to 1,000 Guineas glory, while the Greenham's roll of honour includes the likes of Frankel, Kingman, Olympic Glory, Muharaar and Barney Roy.
The Group 3 Park Express (3.25) and Alleged Stakes (4.35) feature on the Curragh's card. The day's other fixtures come from Bellewstown, Bangor, Thirsk, Brighton and Nottingham.
There is also British interest in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes (10.48) at Keeneland, with Choisya and Jabaara representing Simon and Ed Crisford and Roger Varian respectively.
Sunday
The 2025 Sky Bet Sunday series returns at Musselburgh, with £200,000 in prize-money on offer, while there are two British jumps meetings from Stratford and Wincanton. In Ireland, the action comes from Down Royal and Tramore.
