'What's he done wrong?' – Henderson challenges Santini Gold Cup doubters
Bookmakers may have reacted cautiously to his Trials day defeat of Bristol De Mai but Nicky Henderson is at a loss to know what more Santini can do to win over his doubters.
The trainer was full of praise for Santini straight after his win in the Paddy Power Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday and, despite the fact some layers still have four horses ahead of him in their lists for the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup, the glow had clearly not come off his appraisal on Sunday afternoon.
"It's a case of not knowing where his limits might be," said Henderson. "I thought that was an excellent race on Saturday and the two of them pulled well clear. Bristol De Mai is a very good benchmark and I know that they were very happy with him coming into the race, they felt he was in good order.
