The Curragh: hosts its latest Group 1 on Sunday with the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes
1 of 1

Forget Brexit for a moment as today features top-class racing from Ireland, France and Germany with each country hosting a Group 1 blockbuster.

Gordon Elliott goes up against Aidan O'Brien, the king of the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh, in search of his first Group 1 success with Beckford.

Deauville's summer season continues with Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor looking to add Thunder Snow to the legends who have won the Prix du Haras de Fresney-le-Buffard - Jacques Le Marois.

Germany has also attracted Godolphin interest with last year's Eclipse winner Hawkbill and Racing History contesting the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten.

Throw in Leicester, Windsor and Downpatrick and there is more than enough for a super Sunday of action.

Going report

Deauville - first race 1.55
Very soft

Curragh - 2.00
Good to firm

Downpatrick - 2.15
Good

Windsor - 2.25
Good (GoingStick 7.5 at 6.30am on Sunday)

Leicester - 2.10
Good to soft, soft in places (GoingStick 7.7 at 6.30am on Sunday)

Market movers

Storm Jazz (Windsor 2.25)
8-1 from 12-1
Ed Dunlop's debutante is related to six winners and has a nice blend of speed and stamina in the pedigree. Dunlop has only had two juvenile runners at the track this season, and both were placed.

Satisfy (Leicester 2.40)
4-1 from 5-1
Formerly with Joseph O'Brien, this three-year-old has joined Karl Burke and receives weight all round on her handicap debut. She is up in trip, which has the potential to suit on pedigree.

Scofflaw (Leicester 3.45)
7-1 from 8-1
Although a beaten favourite on his last two starts, Scofflaw has been running consistently, and went down 2lb in the handicap despite finishing third at Thirsk last time. The drying ground will also help his chances, with his two career wins coming on good and good to firm.

What to back

Pricewise’s Tom Segal is a must read for members as he has come up with one of Aidan O'Brien's contenders in the Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh today having pointed the way to 7-1 Ascot Shergar Cup winner Euchan Glen at 12-1.

What to read

All the fun of the Shergar Cup is captured by the top team of Graham Dench and Lewis Porteous.

Plenty to read and entertain as usual in the RP Sunday magazine. Barry Hills features in this week's Q & A and has all the answers.

Richard Forristal talks to two of Ireland racing's first family, brothers Joseph and Donnacha O'Brien.

Also find out which jockey goes back 12 years to remember his breakthrough Group 1 winner in the popular 'my life in horses' feature.

What to watch

The Curragh action is dissected by Bruce Millington, Lee Mottershead, Brendan Duke and Paddy Power's James Shortt. See what they think of Gordon Elliott's chances of breaking Aidan O'Brien's monopoly of the Phoenix Stakes.

The best of Racing Post Sport

Premiership football is coming thick and fast now and the sports team has the top tips on today's matches between Manchester United and West Ham and Newcastle v Tottenham. After Chelsea's opening day defeat nothing can be taken for granted.

Steve Palmer is blown away by one golfer in the delayed USPGA.

Final thought

What will the future hold for trainer Gordon Elliott if he enjoys Group 1 glory with Beckford at The Curragh today? Could there be a shift in priorities away from jump racing?
