Prince Khalid Abdullah's green, white and pink silks have come to represent real prestige. His small but select approach has resulted in era-defining talents such as Dancing Brave, Zafonic, Frankel, Arrogate and Enable.

Since purchasing four yearlings in 1977 his Juddmonte operation has evolved into arguably pound for pound the most successful global superpower in bloodstock. But just how has it been so successful?

Taking stock

The evaluation of any breeding operation has to begin with the horses it produced and of the five aforementioned superstars only Dancing Brave and Arrogate were purchased at the sales, for $200,000 (in 1984) and $560,000 (2014) respectively.
