Fontwell's Wednesday fixture cancelled due to waterlogging
Fontwell's Wednesday meeting has been cancelled due to waterlogging at the West Sussex track.
An overnight frost forced course officials to delay an inspection until midday but conditions have failed to sufficiently improve and more rain is forecast on Wednesday.
Clerk of the course Philip Hide said: "We've been forced to cancel as we still have waterlogged areas and some unstable ground. Further rain is forecast on Wednesday so there's no way it can feasibly improve enough for racing to go ahead."
Catterick will stage the sole jumps meeting in Britain on Wednesday, where the ground is described as soft, heavy in places, while Clonmel hosts a seven-race card on heavy ground in Ireland.
The going is heavy at Carlisle for Thursday’s meeting with a dry forecast in the lead-up and it is soft, good to soft in places on the hurdles course at Wincanton on the same afternoon. Soft to heavy is the description at Thurles for Thursday's jumps fixture in Ireland.
Leicester’s meeting on Friday appears in danger with the track unraceable on Tuesday and clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson is concerned by forecast rain on Wednesday.
The going is described as heavy, waterlogged in places at the East Midlands course.
Stevenson said on Tuesday: “We’re still not raceable as we have some false patches of ground that are causing a problem.
“We need a dry few days but rain is forecast on Wednesday afternoon through to the evening and that would not help us. We could do with the forecast being wide of the mark."
