Wednesday’s two jumps meetings will go ahead as planned after Lingfield and Hexham came through morning precautionary inspections.

Inspections had been called due to the persistent heavy rain and strong winds of Storm Barra and although some fences will be omitted at both meetings, the two seven-race cards go ahead.

James Armstrong, clerk of the course at Hexham said on Wednesday morning: "There’s barely a breeze here at the moment. It might pick up a little bit later but we’re not expecting anything over about 5mph so no issues at all.

"Obviously the ground is heavy so we’ve taken a couple of fences out just because there was a bit of standing water on the front of the landing side but the rest of them are absolutely fine."

Lingfield experienced a deluge of rain on Tuesday with the going changed to heavy from soft after coming through the inspection on Wednesday, leading to a number of non-runners.

Saturday's Sandown scorer Naturally High was odds-on to complete a hat-trick in the 2m novice handicap hurdle (2.00) but is one of 16 non-runners with 13 of those withdrawn due to concerns over the going including Brorson, a runner-up at Cheltenham’s October meeting, who had been favourite for the 2m3½f handicap hurdle (3.30).

Clerk of the course George Hill said "We’re heavy ground but we’ve passed the precautionary inspection. Three fences have been taken out but the hurdle course is fine.

"It’s just those three fences down the back straight that we will need to omit unfortunately but there’s been quite a bit of rain - 18.5mm.”

Wednesday’s other meetings come on the all-weather from Wolverhampton, Kempton and Dundalk.
