Wednesday return on cards after Crowley passed fit to ride again

Jim Crowley has been cleared to ride again and will be back on the racecourse next Wednesday, when he could be in action at both Lingfield and Kempton.

The champion jockey received a severe kicking and a broken nose in the horrific Kempton melee on October 31 in which Freddy Tylicki suffered life-changing injuries. Crowley was lucky to avoid serious injury but still had to pass a concussion test before he could resume.

Crowley, who in the meantime has replaced Paul Hanagan as retained first jockey to Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "I did a concussion test and passed the doctor on Wednesday, so I'm cleared to ride now.

"There's nothing in the south for me in the next few days, but my agent Tony Hind is already booking rides for me next Wednesday. It's possible I could do two meetings then, although you won't be seeing me take 14 rides again for a while."

Crowley added: "I've been riding out for my sister-in-law Amanda Perrett for a week or so and keeping myself fairly fit, and I'll be racing in Doha at the end of the month before starting the new job in Dubai on January 2. I'm really looking forward to getting going again."
