Topical clash: Brexitmeansbrexit must overcome Trouble And Strife at Lingfield
A two-horse race does not usually grab headlines let alone the imagination but the match between two fillies at Lingfield on Wednesday has potential for just that.
With the hard, soft and no Brexit arguments raging, the timing of a match between three-year-olds Brexitmeansbrexit and Trouble And Strife could not be better.

Not even Great British Racing could have orchestrated such a potential coup for political commentators to pick up on and make a political statement whatever the outcome.
Much like the Brexit referendum, tipsters are divided over the merits of Brexitmeansbrexit in this two-horse race but bookmakers are more certain and make Trouble And Strife a solid 1-3 shot.
The favourite's trainer, Sir Mark Prescott, will be happy to get one over a Brexit horse as he said: "I am more remain than leave."
As to the favourite's Greek-born owner Lady O'Reilly, who named her Declaration of War filly, Prescott added: "I have no idea of her politics but she's a very international lady."
The hottest and driest summer since 1976 helps explain this 0-70 Barrier Trials At Lingfield Park Fillies' Handicap (5.10) cutting up to a match on the prevailing firm ground.
"Luckily this filly seems to like firm ground and she did the job well last time and has been put up a bit more than her penalty so has to run for a third time in three weeks at the same course," added Prescott, who wished there was one fewer runner.
"I'd have preferred a walkover, although I am the only living trainer to have lost out when winning one as it was a seller and I had to buy it back!"
