Key details for the start of the St Leger meeting as rain eases Doncaster going

The opening day of Doncaster's St Leger meeting starts on Wednesday with a seven-race card beginning at 1.50 on ground that is now good to soft, soft in places. The feature race of the day is the 5f Scarbrough Stakes, which has attracted El Astronaute, Final Venture and last season's winner Encore D'Or.

Elsewhere on the card a few of racing's familiar faces are set for a return to the saddle, with 16 former jockeys lining up in the Leger Legends race. Andrew Thornton, Luke Harvey and Gay Kelleway are all saddling up, with Tony Culhane's mount Zeshov the market leader.

In Ireland, Listowel stages the Kerry National (4.20). The 3m handicap looks to have a quality line-up including Jury Duty, Snow Falcon and Peregrine Run. Shantou Village, Bishops Road and Dell' Arca are the British raiders.
