If following trainers in form is your thing there is only one place to start in Worcester's £30,000 feature and that is with Captain Peacock, whose red-hot trainer Oliver Sherwood has had four winners from his last five runners.

That fine form is a legacy from the Grand National winner's most productive summer, which has already yielded 12 winners against the tallies of 21 and 22 he has recorded in the last two campaigns.

Owned by Betfair co-founder Andrew Black and Rewards4Racing head honcho Josh Apiafi, Captain Peacock concedes weight to his 14 rivals, but has won two of his last three.

Sherwood said: "Weight's the obvious thing. He's a big, strong horse, so that doesn't bother me, but it's just whether something is lurking down the weights.

"Mind you, there's only a stone and a bit between us and the bottomweight. The ground is no problem. He'll get further and there'll be a strong pace. He's in great form and this has been the plan since we got him qualified."

Sherwood joked he had not done the lottery yet this week, but added of his good spell: "They're running well and I'm happy with them – long may it last – but we're screaming for some rain now."

Fellow Lambourn trainer Charlie Mann, who had an across-the-card double at Hereford and Huntingdon last week and continues to get the best out of his string, is represented by one of those recent winners, Ilewin Geez.

Mann said: "We've been trying him over two miles because he was a bit keen, but we ran him over two and a half the other day and he won well.

"It's perhaps a bit soon for him, but he's come out of that race well and deserves a crack at this £30,000 prize. The ground should be okay as long as they don't put too much water on it."
