Club Wexford chasing hat-trick as Carlisle stages historic Plate and Bell
The Carlisle Bell is one of horseracing's most historic prizes and at 3.30 a new winner will be added to the lengthy roll of honour stretching back centuries. The mile handicap remains as competitive as ever this year, with 16 runners set to go to post including the hat-trick seeking Club Wexford.
Elsewhere in Cumbria, the Listed Eternal Stakes (4.30) features smart fillies Viadera, Tapisserie and Qatar Racing's Neon Sea. The Cumberland Plate (4.00) has attracted a sizeable field featuring Godolphin's Volcanic Sky.
There is also Listed action in Ireland with the Naas Oaks Trial at 8.00, while today's racing also features Flat cards at Salisbury, Kempton and Bath. Ffos Las stages the only jumps fixture of the day.

Final thought
The Mackem Bullet, beaten a neck at Group 1 level, won the 6f novice stakes at Carlisle (2.30) last season and it will be interesting to see whether this year's field contains a similarly smart prospect. The Richard Hannon-trained Endowed could be the leading contender.
