Irish action: promising claimer John Shinnick out to deliver on Dreamboat Dave

John Shinnick's post-race interviews are from the Bryony Frost handbook, so it was no surprise to see more than 71,000 Twitter views of his Racing TV interview with Kevin O'Ryan after Pepperoni Pete became his second winner at Cork this month.

The 17-year-old from Fermoy in County Cork has certainly got the gift of the gab, but his talent with his tongue is certainly no match for his talent in the saddle and his 7lb claim is a big bonus to the Ger Lyons stable.

Shinnick and Lyons team up with Dreamboat Dave in the 1m2f apprentice handicap (7.35) at Cork and, with blinkers on for the first time, the consistent three-year-old could make it eighth-time lucky.

Murphy on fact-finding mission

There are just five runners in the 6f Matchbook Rated Race (6.05) at Cork but all five have been successful at some stage in their careers, and Galtee Mist and Woody Creek were winners on their most recent starts.

Having previously been in the care of Michael Byrne, Galtee Mist made a winning start to life with Joe Murphy in a 7f maiden at Gowran Park a fortnight ago and his trainer does not think the drop in trip will pose a problem.

"We were thrilled with what she did at Gowran," said Murphy. "She made all and showed plenty of pace. We're on a fact-finding mission as this is a different kettle of fish altogether."

Look out for Lee at Cork

Billy Lee sits third in the Irish Flat jockeys' championship on 16 winners, with four of those victories coming at Cork. If you'd stuck €10 on each of his rides at the track this term you would be €101.30 richer.

Lee has five rides on the Cork card and perhaps his best chance of a winner is on the Willie McCreery-trained Arabeska in the 7f maiden (6.35).

Arabeska is rated 73 after four starts and the new straight seven furlong track at Cork should suit her.

Mullins seeks hat-trick at Wexford

Willie Mullins has won the 3m hurdle (3.10) at Wexford for the last two years with Coquin Mans (2017) and Timi Roli (2018), and relies on the five-year-old mare Great White Shark for the hat-trick bid.

Paul Townend takes the ride on the Malcolm Denmark-owned grey, who got off the mark in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last month, earning a rating of 123.

Rhythm Divine, runner-up to Great White Shark at Fairyhouse, gave the form a boost when running second to the Mullins-trained Elfile at the Punchestown festival

The promising Hugh Morgan's 7lb claim will be of benefit to Henry de Bromhead's Daybreak Boy, the top-rated runner in the race.
