Bella Estrella bidding for back-to-back Listed race wins in Gowran feature

Bella Estrella, winner of three of her four starts, will be seeking a second win at Listed level in this event, which honours Hurry Harriet, whom Paddy Mullins trained to land the 1973 Champion Stakes at Newmarket, when she upset the great Allez France.

Trained by Dermot Weld, who has sent out three winners of this race in the past six years, Bella Estrella landed the Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney last month on her most recent start.

Like Weld, Aidan O'Brien has landed the prize three times in recent years and he is represented by Curly, Broadway and Hence, who lost out by a neck to Bella Estrella at Killarney last month.

Curly, the mount of Seamie Heffernan, won her maiden over this course and distance in June before contesting the Group 3 Meld Stakes at Leopardstown last month when she was last of four, beaten one and a half lengths.

Liquid Amber, last seen when ninth in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas in May, will be attempting to build on the promise she showed a year ago when landing the Group 3 Flame Of Tara Stakes by five lengths at the Curragh.

Trained by Willie McCreery, the daughter of Kitten's Joy will be visored for the first time.

She's been very consistent and deserved her Listed win at Killarney last month. This looks a competitive renewal and she does have to give weight to all her rivals, but I'm expecting her to run a very good race.

She's taking a big drop in trip but it's our local track and we decided to let her take her chance. She's in good form and will like the ground.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of Rickrack
She won well at Sligo last time, but that was a handicap and this will be more competitive. She seems well and we'll be delighted if she could earn some black type.

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Broadway, Curly and Hence
Curly is the least experienced of the three but ran well and wasn't beaten far in the Meld Stakes last time. The other two fillies have already got some black type and we're hoping they might get more.

Willie McCreery, trainer of Liquid Amber
She's grown a lot since she ran in the 1,000 Guineas and we're looking forward to running her back. She's in good form and the showers they're expecting should make it lovely ground.
