Wesley Ward sets sights on further Royal Ascot riches with strong squad

It would not be Royal Ascot without a contingent of Wesley Ward-trained speedsters lighting up the meeting, and the leading American trainer is eager to make his annual transatlantic pilgrimage again this year, provided international runners are permitted to take part.

Confirmation the summer spectacular would be held behind closed doors, if at all, came on Tuesday of last week and Ward is hopeful his team will be allowed to make the trip.

"We wouldn't miss it for anything," he said. "If they have it, we're going to be there provided they let us come over. We're working on plans but it's too early to know what will happen exactly."
