Bay Bridge's owner-breeder James Wigan has put the four-year-old's "absolutely thrilling" Champions Stakes victory on a par with Breeders' Cup glory as the highlights of his 45-year association with Sir Michael Stoute.

Wigan, who owned Stoute's 2013 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf heroine Dank, saw Bay Bridge finally build on the promise of his reappearance win in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown in May when he lowered the colours of Baaeed at Ascot.

The son of New Bay had been beaten at odds-on on his last visit to the Berkshire track when he finished a length second to State Of Rest in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes, and had only one rival behind him when he was again sent off market leader in the Coral-Eclipse.
