'We can now dream of better things' - Haynes plots US raid with Lady Hollywood

Alice Haynes: celebrated her first win in Ireland on Wednesday evening

Lady Hollywood could well have her name in lights at the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in November after giving Alice Haynes her first win in Ireland at Naas on Wednesday evening.

The daughter of Havana Grey, who was also a very first runner in Ireland for the Newmarket-based trainer, came from off the pace to score tidily in the Listed Marwell Stakes under Rossa Ryan.

Lady Hollywood was completing a hat-trick when outrunning the well fancied 5-6 favourite Mauiewowie in the 5f contest.

Reflecting on the win on the Newmarket gallops on Thursday morning, Haynes said: "We rolled the dice and it paid off. Lady Hollywood was our first runner in Ireland and fair play to the team.

"We knew she was on a quick turnaround having only won eight days before at Beverley, but she travelled over great and has such a fantastic constitution which is a massive thing.

"All the chat beforehand was about the Ger Lyons horse that finished runner-up as they said that was his best. In the end Lady Hollywood jumped well and picked up easy. Rossa gave her a squeeze two out and she came back on the bridle and quickened off that."

Lady Hollywood travelled to Ireland at midnight on Monday to avoid the heat as the daytime temperatures were pushing 40C in Newmarket.

Haynes said: "It was only 18C over there and the locals said that was hot, but it was massively cooler than it was here so she was in the best place."

Jointly owned by Amo Racing and Omnihorse Racing, Lady Hollywood is now set to grace bigger stages and could be supplemented for the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York next month. Alternatively, she could take on the boys in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster in September.

Beyond that, all roads lead to the Breeders' Cup, where she could appear in the Juvenile Fillies Turf Sprint.

"We can now dream of better things," said Haynes. "There is talk of supplementing her for the Lowther Stakes at York. Beyond that, I don’t think she’s a Cheveley Park filly but she could maybe take on the colts at Doncaster in the Flying Childers.

"The new syndicate of Amo Racing and Omnihorse Racing is taking off in the US so she could end up in the Juvenile Turf Fillies Sprint at the Breeders' Cup. That would be another first for us."

Haynes is not only a good trainer but also a good businesswoman having made what now looks a smart move at the recent July Sale at Tattersalls.

She said: "I paid 10,000gns for Lady Hollywood’s dam Dubai Legend on a Havana Grey cover a few weeks ago so she is carrying a full brother or sister to her."

Paddy Power has priced Lady Hollywood at 12-1 for the Lowther Stakes at York on August 18.
