We asked you how you found the new Longchamp (apart from the queues)
How easy was it to move from paddock to racecourse and follow the action?
Criticism of the amount of time spent queueing at Longchamp has been heavy. But we also asked what racegoers made of the view from the new stand, and the ease of moving around
We were in the Pelouse D’Arrivee, access was good, viewing was good & all very modern etc ! Just think the facilities were a bit overwhelmed by the crowd size > I’m sure they will reflect & learn for next year.
My 35th Arc, very disappointed. Access to paddock from Pelouse was difficult. Only possible via corridor by toilets, and via room with betting terminals. Paddock steps designed for giants and stairways were blocked. Gardens totally unsuited to viewing the races.
In and around the paddock area absolutely superb. More seating needed for viewing from the grandstand. Queues for toilets, food, drink and coffee serpentine like.
Good views from the Pelouse de l’Arrivee – ground level, finishing line – although little elevation (big screens compensated). Easy to get to paddock steps from there. New stand is airy and stylish.
Getting from stands to paddock was always a pain at Longchamp and it was no different. But I think it's because the French like to pick a spot and stay there for the day, bring a blanket and sit there. So obviously dancing around them is awkward if you want to get from A to B.
Steppings in grandstand offered a good view, however if the weather was poor the grass area could become a quagmire. View of paddock was excellent. Getting around proved confusing. Recommend Saturday visit to factfind. Loos with five urinals and ten cubicles is questionable.
Nice to see some fun being added to the village area. Starting stall pic op was good, as was horse experience. After party was epic. Betting was all about queueing as was food and drink. Lucky with the weather. If it poured there could have been real problems.
I thought it was fine. I wasn’t boozing so the queue for the drink didn’t bother me. There was much more seating around the parade ring area than in old Longchamp. Most of the rest was the same. Toilet provision much lower than old course. And waffles were lovely.
Not sure why so many people across the Arc threads are complaining about the views for the Prix de l'Abbaye. It’s always been that way so no different. I guess it was more acceptable when you paid 8 euros as opposed to 75 though!!
