Three to watch out for at Newcastle tonight
Racing continues under the lights and with snow lying around at Newcastle this evening and here are three horses of interest.
King Oswald (Newcastle 4.30)
A morning market mover this James Unett-trained miler squeezes into this 0-60 under the new rulings that allows horses rated up to 2lb higher to compete as King Oswald does with a rating of 62. Consequently he is burdened with 10st but it has not put off punters who have backed this five-year-old into 5-2 from 5-1 to land a third career win on his 26th start.
Malaspina (Newcastle 6.00)
This French import is unbeaten in the hands of trainer Ivan Furtado, who switched this mare's Gallic blinkers for a pair of cheekpieces in her first two races in England. The six-year-old has soared 10lb for her success but is back over the course and distance where it started before following up under a penalty on the Fibresand a week later. Given 47 days to recover Malaspina has top weight of 9st 9lb but lugged 10st 1lb at Southwell with her penalty!
Wiff Waff (Newcastle 6.30)
This three-year-old returns under a penalty for his course and distance win five days ago even though he is trained in Newmarket by Stuart Williams. Racing for the first time since being gelded Wiff Waff overcame a slow start and five rivals in fine style and his trainer is enjoying another successful all-weather season, lying third in the standings with three winners already this year.
