Gordon Elliott was left licking his wounds after a below-par yield at Cheltenham but the leading trainer has dusted himself down and already has his sights set on securing a record-equalling fourth triumph in the Randox Grand National at Aintree.

Elliott departed last week's festival with two winners and, while he believes that tally could have been doubled at least had the ball bounced in his favour, he is phlegmatic about the situation given he is in the middle of a rebuilding process.

The trainer, who won the first of his three Grand Nationals in 2007 with Silver Birch and scored back-to-back triumphs with Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019, anticipates being strongly represented in the Aintree showpiece on April 9.
