Hayley hoping old allies will help

Hayley Turner is hoping old allies Desert Strike and Conor Dore will get her into the swing for her call-up to the Shergar Cup at Ascot next month.

Turner will attempt to retain the Cup with the girls team on August 6 and was speaking yesterday at a Goodwood media event in London that launched this month's Qatar-backed Glorious meeting at which she is an ambassador for the Magnolia Cup, a celebrity race for female riders.

"I've renewed my licence and owe it to the owners and trainers to have a few rides before Ascot to get mentally tuned in," said Turner, who called time on her pioneering and successful career at the end of last season.
