The Briefing: latest news as France keeps the show on the road for one more day
With no British racing for a sixth and, thankfully, final day, France again flies the flag for European racing, from the all-weather on the Polytrack at Chantilly to a mixed meeting at Toulouse which starts with two chases and a hurdle race before the Flat takes over.
Capla Gilda, previously trained to win four of her six races under the care of Archie Watson, is one horse British punters should recognise on the Chantilly card (1.02) as she bids to add to a Deauville win in December for her new connections.
Going report
Chantilly (AW) (first race at 10.55)
Standard
Toulouse (3.22)
Heavy
What to back
The Racing Postcast team clearly had a BHA mole letting them know the weekend action would unfold so check out the top tips ahead of a bumper weekend as well as reflections on last week and the equine flu situation.
What to read
Catch up with the BHA lifting a six-day ban on racing after the equine flu outbreak and how Ireland made the first move to welcome runners from Britain but with stricter vaccination rules.
What to watch
Fresh from Defi Du Seuil's Grade 1 win, Philip Hobbs welcomed the RPTV cameras to provide an update on his stable stars in the build up to festival season.
The entertaining Upping The Ante, hosted by David Jennings, is into its 11th week and the Cheltenham Festival betting slips are re-examined.
The best of Racing Post Sport
It is getting serious in the Champions League as the knockout stage starts this week. Mark Langdon has his idea of the overall winner and Dan Childs gives his bet for Manchester United against PSG tonight.
Final thought
A glance at Chantilly's all-weather card highlights two things. There is not one single-figure field and the level of prize-money is better, even before you take into account French-bred premiums. It really does put some British tracks to shame.
