1. 2015 Sussex Stakes second makes British debut for Simcock

The 32Red/British Stallion Studs EBF Conditions Stakes (7.15) at Kempton will be the first race in Britain since August 2016 for Arod, the 2015 Sussex Stakes runner-up who spent a largely unproductive year in Australia with Winx's trainer Chris Waller.

Formerly with Peter Chapple-Hyam, Arod joined David Simcock on his return to Britain last June and ran once for his new stable, finishing a competitive fifth in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile.

The Qatar Racing-owned seven-year-old receives 7lb from main rival Jallota and Simcock is hopeful he still has a nice prize or two in him and may well send him travelling again in due course.

2. Mahon: USA my best chance at Ballinrobe

No-one targets Ballinrobe quite like Steve Mahon. The Galway-based handler loves nothing more than training winners out west, and he makes his way to one of the most picturesque tracks in Ireland with a number of good chances this evening.

Asked to predict which one of his seven intended runners is likely to fare best, Mahon opted for USA, who tackles the feature 2m3f handicap chase (7.35).

He said: "If the ground is nice I'd say he's my best chance of a winner. He's a good horse and he's had a run on the Flat at Dundalk so he should be plenty fit for this."

"If the ground came up on the soft side, you'd imagine Sanibel Island, having his first run for me, could run well for Tom Doran in the beginners' chase (8.05). He looked a nice horse at one stage and he has been going well at home and has form on soft ground, so hopefully he'll run well."
