6.15 GalwayArdilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes (Listed) | 1m4f | 3yo+ fillies and mares | RTV

Why is it interesting?

Always a hot contest, this Listed race provides one of the last opportunities of the season for fillies and mares to get valuable black type over middle distances.

There have been some interesting winners in the past, including Grade 1-winning novice hurdler Airlie Beach, who took this prize two seasons ago under Pat Smullen.

She is not the only talented dual-purpose mare to get her name on the scoresheet, with the Mick Winters-trained Missunited scoring in 2013, the same year she landed the Galway Hurdle.

What do the stats say?

John Oxx has won this race twice in the last ten years with Aliyfa scoring in 2009 before Zanughan claimed victory by two lengths in 2011.

Oxx is represented this year by Moteo, who has finished second in two of her five starts this season and was most recently defeated in a Group 3 at Cork by subsequent Blandford Stakes winner Tarnawa.

John Oxx: 'It is not an ideal situation but we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and I think we can count ourselves very lucky.'

Aidan O'Brien's Invitation and the Willie Mullins-trained Diamond Hill are the only two runners in the race to have won over course and distance.

What do the trainers say?

Willie McCreery, trainer of Bongiorno
She ran well in the race last year and it would be great if we could get more black type with her. It's a tough race but we're hopeful of a good run. She's back after a break, as there wasn't a whole pile for her during the summer. She likes a good dig in the ground.

Gavin Cromwell, trainer of Tritonix
It'd be great if we could get some black type with her. She has a good bit to find on ratings but the ground shouldn't be an issue. She's a big strong filly and I'm sure she'll run well.

Matthew Smith, trainer of Warnaq
She ran well enough at Listowel last week considering it was her first start back after a break. I'd be expecting her to come on from that. Hopefully she can get some more black type.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of Camphor
I don't think the rain will inconvenience her too much. She's had a bit of a break after a few quick runs and she's in good form. We're hoping for the best with her.

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Four Leaf Clover, Invitation and Simply Beautiful
Four Leaf Clover is in good form. Invitation won her maiden at the track, but she was just a little bit keen in the blinkers last time, which is why we took them off her for this. We've been happy with Simply Beautiful. She's been progressing away and we were delighted with her last run and she seems to be in good form.
