Transfer deadline day: can you find the right horses to turn around your team?

Like many others, you may find yourself in around 27,500th place in the Tote Ten To Follow having picked Buveur D’Air, Laurina and Klassical Dream at the start of the competition.

However, there is still time to turn things around with plenty of bonus points up for grabs, but you have only until the 5pm transfer window closes on Monday, March 9 to make your substitutions, so time is of the essence.

If you had picked Espoir D’Allen, Topofthegame and Al Boum Photo at this point last year you would have pocketed 201 points. So, who are the outsiders who can propel you towards the top of the leaderboard?

Unibet Champion Hurdle
In this 'weak' Champion Hurdle there is an opportunity to find an overlooked outsider and the Jessica Harrington-trained Supasundae could be the one. The second highest-rated horse in the race with the most experience, he beat Buveur D’Air at Aintree last year and had his first run of the season only last month. He could be in perfect shape to claim the bonus points.

Racing Post Arkle Trophy Chase
Esprit Du Large has done little wrong this season and his victory in a smart Grade 1 field at Sandown in December was convincing. It’s an interesting move not to have brought him out again, but perhaps Evan Williams had that route to Cheltenham in mind from the start of the season.

Ryanair Chase
Venetia Williams’ Aso loves Cheltenham, however he's still missing a victory at the festival. Likely to go off at a long price, he may be the perfect Tote Ten to Follow selection to fire you up the leaderboard. Is there another big run in the tank for the ten-year-old?

RSA Chase
Slate House's record at Cheltenham includes three wins and two falls. His victories have come at the October and November meetings but does he have a festival success in him? He may be underestimated and could spring a surprise at a big price.

Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup
When Presenting Percy turned for home in the Irish Gold Cup last month he looked as though he was going to push Delta Work right to the line. He has been out of form since his win at Gowran Park last year, but the 2019 Gold Cup favourite could put you at the top of the March leaderboard with a win this time.
