Antoine Griezmann caused plenty of waves in the world of French racing when revealing in September that he had taken a share in a horse called Tornibush.

It would appear that the Atletico Madrid and France striker may have bought into a pretty useful colt, as well, as Tornibush made virtually all under Franck Blondel to win a good conditions race at Marseille Borely on only his second start in Griezmann's black and pink silks.

Griezmann is away on international duty with Les Bleus but tweeted a picture of Tornibush returning to the winners' enclosure to his 4.6 million followers.

Griezmann's interest in racing was inherited from his father Alain, who brokered the purchase of Tornibush from Lyon-based trainer Philipe Decouz.

Decouz said: "It's a relief to see the horse win, though there's no extra pressure training for Antoine Griezmann. You get up every morning in order to train winners.

"He'll have a break now and next year he'll be running in Listed and Group races. He's going the right way."

Griezmann was at Chantilly to see Enable win the Arc at the beginning of October and will be hoping that Decouz can plan a programme next season that allows him to be present to see Tornibush take on better opposition.

However, all of France will hope he is absent from the racecourse for as long as possible during the World Cup in Russia between June 14 and July 15.
