Tonight's racing: three to watch from Ffos Las and Salisbury

Ffos Las: where two of this evening's horses to note run
Ffos Las: where two of this evening's horses to note run

The evening action on Saturday comes from Ffos Las and Salisbury, jumps and Flat respectively. Here are three runners to look out for.

6.35 Ffos Las
Action Replay

This son of Milan returns to action having missed the bulk of what was a pretty ordinary season for trainer Philip Hobbs in 2017-18. The corner has been turned now and he is just the sort of horse Hobbs will be hoping to improve this campaign.

Action Replay has had just six starts under rules and one over fences, but that was an inauspicious one as he unseated at the ninth, which was not his first mistake.

He would not be the first novice to come a cropper at Wincanton and, perhaps more importantly, he moves up in trip to nearly 2m4f today. His pedigree is not that of a two-miler and, if he is fit, Action Replay is a very interesting contender among unexposed novices.

7.05 Ffos Las
Ronnie Lawson

He may just be a siren on the rocks, but Ronnie Lawson shaped well on more than one occasion during the winter and could be worth chancing fresh in this lower company.

He was backed when a close second at Southwell in December and then got involved in a pace battle with the eventual third at Catterick in January, fading into fourth.

The second (twice) and third have both won since then, marking that race as strong for the grade, a comment which would be unlikely to apply to this race. There is little doubt about the drop back in trip for Ronnie Lawson, in fact the more pressing question is whether it will suit him. His stamina for 3m does at least give an option to be aggressive for Richard Johnson, one that he often takes up to good effect.

8.20 Salisbury
Comrade In Arms

You would be right to assume that a Coolmore-owned, Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding has a pedigree well above a 0-70 classified stakes. He's by War Front and is closely related to Peeping Fawn, but has looked very raw so far.

On his best effort, a half-length second at Wolverhampton in October, Comrade In Arms has a strong chance here, but he took a backwards step on his return to action at Chelmsford, looking a little awkward.

Given his connections, and his trainer in particular, it would be sensible to allow for some residual greenness. If Comrade In Arms can belatedly build on his best run, he has a good chance to join the ranks of winners in his pedigree.
