Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Dundalk and Kempton
There are two all-weather meetings to keep us going into the evening on Friday. Here are some names to note at Dundalk and Kempton...
Airwaves
6.15 Kempton
Not to be confused with the Henry Candy-trained superstar sprinter of the early 2000s, Airwaves could be a useful performer herself if living up to her pedigree.
Owned and bred by Reg Bond, Airwaves is a sister to talented sprinters Ladies Are Forever and Hoof It.
Trainer Martyn Meade often has his horses in good shape for their debuts, so a bold performance from this filly can not be ruled out.
Captain Joy
7.30 Dundalk
Captain Joy has been a smashing horse on the all-weather over the past few seasons and he returns to action for the first time since July this evening.
Winner of the Mile Final on all-weather finals day in 2016, the nine-year-old lines up in a mile handicap and concedes weight to all seven of his rivals.
The old boy has often run well after a break, but given he is facing some fit and in-form rivals, he may be best watched tonight. Hopefully there will be plenty of chances to watch him in the weeks ahead.
Flaming Marvel
8.15 Kempton
With such an attractive pedigree it is understandable why connections of this horse have persisted with him despite the fact he has only raced four times in two years.
He returned from a monster absence to be a good fifth last time and has had a good ten weeks between then and now, which should counter the dreaded bounce.
The talented George Wood takes the ride on the four-year-old and he could well prove to be better than his handicap mark of 77.
