Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Doncaster and Wolverhampton
Action on the turf and the all-weather this evening with Doncaster and Wolverhampton hosting fixtures. Both meetings are on At The Races with Doncaster starting at 5.25pm before Wolverhampton joins in at 5.40pm. Here are three horses to watch out for...
A double at Sandown on Friday may have marked the start of a good spell for Sir Michael Stoute, who sends out this smart runner for the Queen this evening.
With just five runs under his belt, Frontispiece looks the perfect candidate to be the latest rapid improver from Stoute this season having shown some good form last season.
Heading into racing today trainer Charlie Appleby’s horses were operating at a strike-rate of 43 per cent (nine winners from 21 runners) in the last two weeks. His team are red hot.
Hoping to stoke that furnace further is Hamada, who has not raced since October 2016 but has some useful form in his three races.
He romped home by six lengths when last seen having chased home subsequent King George V Stakes winner Atty Persse at Sandown. Gelded during his time off, he is a fascinating runner.
Hugo Palmer is not a trainer who needs to go out and buy horses to run in his own colours, especially horses which cost only 6,000gns.
In the case of Stage Name, Palmer trained the four-year-old for Khalid Abdullah and must have seen enough to purchase her from Juddmonte at the sales to have himself for this season.
Stage Name was second on her only start at Newmarket in August with the three other runners in that race having all won subsequently. An interesting contender.
