Chelmsford: racing this evening
1 of 1

This evening's all-weather action comes from Chelmsford with the first race at 4.15. Here are three runners to keep an eye on.

New King
5.15 Chelmsford

Qatar Racing's son of Frankel caught the eye last time out at Wolverhampton when winningcomfortably enough ina 1m½f novice contest.

The three-year-old, who carries a 7lb penalty for that success, is a half brother to Listed winnerMarina Piccola and the step up to1m2fshould suit this well-bred colt.

Trainer John Gosden has been in good form recently, saddling three winners from 11 runners over the past two weeks, and New King looks another nice prospect for the champion trainer.

African Blessing
6.55 Chelmsford

The John Best-trained six-year-old was an easy winner over course and distancea week agoand returns tonight under a 6lb penalty.

African Blessing, who hasscored four times from 24 starts, appears to have thrived for the change of yard and is once again partnered by Kieren Fox.

Poppy May
7.55 Chelmsford

The daughter of Zoffany returns to Chelmsford off the back of a neck second at Southwell last month and appears to have every chance ofgoing one better despite a wide draw.

The five-year-old, owned by Team Given 1 and trained by James Given, was a course and distance winner on her penultimate start and looks set to make another bold show.
