Tonight's action: three runners who catch the eye at Wolverhampton
Eight races take place under the floodlights at Wolverhampton this evening with some interesting runners competing on the Tapeta. The first race is off at 5.45pm and it is all live on At The Races. Here are three runners to keep an eye on
While much talk this week will be about a racein which stamina is needed in abundance, there is a treat for fans of pure speed this evening with a classy 5f conditions race taking place.
Leading the way is dual Group 1-winner Goldream, who is seeking his first win since landing the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp in 2015.
He faces the useful all-weather pair Double Up and Doctor Sardonicus, with the field completed by the speedy Robot Boy and Golden Steps, who is making his debut for Jim Goldie.
This could be mistaken for a race thattook place over jumps at Kempton or Wincanton earlier today, with trainers Warren Greatrex, Nicky Richards, Graeme McPherson, Don Cantillon and Nicky Henderson represented.
Greatrex’s Great Return has certainly showed an aptitude for the all-weather with three wins in a row at Wolverhampton and Southwell, taking his record for the trainer to 323111.
The five-year-old has climbed 21lb in that time but looks likely to put up another bold effort this evening.
The King’s Steed
Connections of The King’s Steed took a punt by running him under a penalty at Lingfield last week and only just came up short.
The five-year-old was 5lb ‘wrong’ at the weights that day, but races off a rating today which is only 1lb higher than when he was successful on his penultimate outing.
Having scored over course-and-distance last month, The King’s Steed appears to have plenty in his favour once again.
