Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Ballinrobe

Ballinrobe: attention switches to the popular Mayo track this evening
1 of 1

The racing keeps on coming and there’s no shortage of interesting runners at Ballinrobe on Monday evening. Here are three horses worth keeping a close eye on . . .

Dawn Shadow
6.30 Ballinrobe

It speaks volumes that Dot Love has opted to keep Dawn Shadow, winner of a Listed mares’ hurdle at the Punchestown festival, on the go this summer and she ought to take some stopping this evening.

Out of a sister to Shadow Eile, a mare who Love guided to nine career wins, Dawn Shadow looks to be another exciting sort from the family who can represent the stable well.

Rachael Blackmore knows the six-year-old inside out and, while Dawn Shadow has to give weight away to all eight rivals, she should be up to the task.

The Last Indian
7.00 Ballinrobe

Aidan Howard has a good one on his hands in The Last Indian who can climb through the handicap ranks over hurdles this summer.

Unlucky to bump into Lord Erskine on her seasonal debut at Sligo, The Last Indian then bolted up off a 7lb higher mark at Tipperary, and, stepping out quickly under a penalty, she should go in again under 7lb claimer Simon Torrens.

Usa
8.00 Ballinrobe

No man targets Ballinrobe quite like Steve Mahon and the Galway-based handler could make the short journey to the Mayo track a winning one with Usa, who represents the stable in the penultimate handicap chase.

The 11-year-old ran a fine race to finish fourth in a decent handicap chase at Punchestown this month, and, stepping down in grade on his favoured good ground, he should fill the frame at least.
