Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye across the fixtures

Tramore: hosts an evening card
1 of 1

A bumper evening of action in Britain and Ireland with five meetings taking place on the Flat, the all-weather and over jumps. Here are three horses worth making time to watch . . .

Corinthia Knight
7.20 Chelmsford

While he is undoubtedly a good turf horse, Corinthia Knight is a superb all-weathercompetitor and he is back on his favoured surface after three runs on grass.

Hefaces a big task as hemust concede weight to most of his rivals despite being a three-year-old. The only opponenthe receives weight from is course specialist Tropics.

However, given his affinity for the surface and his no-nonsense running style, he is sure to give it all he has before being lined up for a profitable winter on the synthetic surfaces.

Sussex Girl
7.30 Newmarket

Connections of Sussex Girl will be hoping for a more straightforward night than the one they had last time.

Having had their race delayed by a fire that broke out near the back straight at Yarmouth, Sussex Girl then ran out of ground when closing fast in the final stages after possibly being left with too much to do by champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa.

The four-year-old still remains below her last winning mark and conditions at Newmarket are likely to be in her favour.

Touch Base
7.35 Tramore

Touch Base has failed to take up three of his four intended runs since the summer but the go-ahead has been given for him to compete this evening.

Trained by Gordon Elliott for JP McManus, Touch Base was a good winner of a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last month and does not seem to have been too harshly punished by the handicapper for this assignment.

While he is unlikely to go down as one of the stars of the season for either trainer or owner, the six-year-old has been progressive and could give them reason to smile this evening.
